Men’s health services at our new building
June 14th-20th is Men’s Health Week! Many people may not realize that 6% of PPMNS’ patients are men. Planned Parenthood provides a wide array of reproductive and general health services to men and these services will be provided at our new state-of-the-art health care center. Here’s a sampling of some of those services:
- Access to condoms
- Fertility awareness
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment
- HIV testing, counseling, and referral
- Testicular cancer screening
- Hepatitis B vaccine
- General health screenings (cholesterol and diabetes screenings, anemia testing)
- Routine physicals
- Patient education
Only 5% of Planned Parenthood’s services are abortion related. It is certainly a bit ironic that so many anti-choicers, many of whom are men, would be opposed to a building that provides the community with access to preventive and life saving care.
Last year in Minnesota alone, Planned Parenthood served over 60,000 Minnesotans in need of affordable health care. Our new building is just one of the many ways that Planned Parenthood contributes to a healthier Minnesota.
