Soil remediation and our new building

Our new flagship health care center and HQ will be located in St. Paul's Midway area, a historically industrial area. Consequently, many places in the Midway are environmentally contaminated from the various industrial businesses that used to reside there.  Before we can begin construction of our new building, the current site will go through a process known as environmental remediation.

Environmental remediation is the process for cleaning up a location, removing the contaminants that damage the environment. It can refer more specifically to soil, sediment, groundwater, and surface water remediation.   In the case of our building site, we will be remediating the soil.  Currently, the site contains arsenic and perc (a dry cleaning chemical), but after remediation is completed the Midway area will be a little greener.  Not to mention that after the soil is cleaned up, Planned Parenthood will be building a LEED certified green building on top of it. But more on that later!

Ground-breaking on the construction of our new building is slated for the end of Summer.
