We are here to stay

Today is such an exciting day!!  Why? Well if you’re on this website, than you’ve probably heard the news. (StarTribune)  Today, Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota proudly announced that we will soon begin construction on a flagship health care center and administrative headquarters in St. Paul!

This is an historic day and I can’t help but wonder what the women who founded our Planned Parenthood affiliate 82 years ago would be thinking right now.  In 1928, a group of Minnesota women stepped up to form the Motherhood Protection League. It was a small but meaningful way to help Minnesotans gain access to information about contraception—this was the beginning of Planned Parenthood’s presence in our region.

Now, Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota South Dakota has 10 programs that educate nearly 28,000 people each year. Everyday we are working to create sensible public policy that improves access to affordable health care services, regardless of income. And we provide over 60,000 Minnesotans with a broad range of reproductive health care through our 25 clinics across the state. We are integral to the health of Minnesotans and today marks a major step forward in our ability to continue to provide Minnesotans with quality, affordable reproductive health care.

The new building will be a state-of-the-art, LEED certified building, located St. Paul on the corner of Charles Avenue and Vandalia, along the Central Corridor. With 46,000 square feet, the new building will bring our community education programs, administrative offices, and a full-service reproductive health care clinic all under one roof, allowing us to stream line our operations and continue providing our patients comfortable, secure care. The new building will be in a more accessible location and will help bring increased activity and vitality to the Central Corridor.

A huge thank you goes out to our generous donors and supporters. THANK YOU!!! You alone have made this exciting new chapter in our history possible. Our growth and success over the past 82 years is a testament to the support we have in Minnesota.  We can’t do it without you.  We hope you will continue to stand with us for the next 82 years and beyond.

It's a free country, anyone can post inflammatory and simplistic responses. Planned Parenthood is about just that, family planning, choice for women and men,not murdering babies. Babies are wonderful and they need rational adults with love and the resources to care for them in order to become happy, secure children and productive adults.
I support Planned Parenthoods work to keep the pressure on those who would eliminate birth control and family planning, using phrases like "murdering babies" to manipulate the uninformed.
